Theo is getting into everything and putting his mouth on all of it. His safety and well-being are constantly on my mind.
Forever chemicals are everywhere (hello, rain) and more and more of them are dumped into the environment on a daily basis. I thought that by avoiding plastic packaging I would be avoiding so many of these chemicals for my family and me. This isn't always the case, though, as the problem often occurs during manufacturing and not necessarily during the packaging process (although obviously, plastic packaging adds to the issue and then has a whole slew of other issues!).
I recently discovered Mamavation, which independently, third-party tests countless household products for PFAs. I was shocked to discover how many products are secretly high in forever chemicals, especially ones that market themselves as natural, organic and/or non-toxic. My goal is to reduce the plastics and toxins in our lives with sustainability at the forefront, and I've been slowly combing through this website to educate myself even further.
So far we have changed which toilet paper we use (Cloud Paper is made from bamboo, is paper-wrapped and plastic free. Mamavation tested them and they came up clean) and which butter we buy. I haven't read every post on the site but have used it as needed. It's such a wonderful resource so I had to share. I hope it helps you stay healthy~
(Don't worry- I salvage as much of the toilet paper as possible when Theo gets into it and goes on a spree)
